Dr Keith Duncan
Consultant obstetrician Dr Keith Duncan MD FRCOG has delivered more than 3,000 babies both in the NHS and as one of Europe’s top private obstetricians. He is Director of The Chelsea Birth Clinic, Service Director for Obstetrics at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and Director and a member of the British Maternal Fetal Medicine Society. He previously served as the representative for London and the Southwest at the prestigious Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, taking an active interest in global women’s health, ultrasound scanning, and development in utero.
25 years experience together with his personable and calm approach have gained him the reputation as a brilliant practitioner in multiple and high-risk birth situations. An Accredited Sub Specialist in Maternal and Fetal Medicine, he is renowned for his hands-on approach, down to earth manner and meticulous attention to detail; making him a popular choice with both first time mothers and a loyal following of repeat patients.
He is a strong supporter of personal choice in childbirth and listening to the individual needs and wishes of each patient. Whether it’s water births, caesareans or hypno-birthing, his philosophy is to provide a positive birth experience for all parents to be.
Keith grew up in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, England. He studied at one of the first sixth form colleges in Leeds before becoming a medical student at Leeds University. He completed his early training in Manchester, then returned to Leeds to complete an elective in vascular surgery, plastic surgery and medical oncology at the city’s St. James’ University Hospital.
Following three years as a medical registrar in Merseyside, he undertook a period of research into the magnetic resonance imaging of foetuses, culminating in an MD thesis. He developed his skills and knowledge by sub-specialising in maternal and fetal medicine, training under the esteemed Professor Fisk at Queen Charlotte’s Hospital in London. His training included theoretical and practical learning experiences, caring for all manner of patients, from those with difficulties conceiving, to post-natal patients needing repairs, hysterectomies or treatment for incontinence. Dr. Duncan’s particular focus was high-risk pregnancies, dealing with multiple births and in particular with monochromic twins.
Concentrating initially on his academic career, Dr. Duncan became a lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology at the University of Nottingham, returning to the NHS as a consultant obstetrician, first at Bristol’s South Mead Hospital, and then at London’s famous Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where he has worked for the past fourteen years.
Dr Sivi Creed
Dr Sivi is Your Pregnancy Doctor’s resident child health expert. She graduated from the Imperial College School of Medicine in 2007 where in addition to gaining her medical degree, she also gained a BSc (Hons) degree in gastroenterology and hepatology. She went on to gain specialist training at the London School of Paediatrics completing her postgraduate paediatric exams to become a qualified Paediatrician and Member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Sivi has also had specialist training in psychiatry, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at the London School of Psychiatry. Sivi has championed the idea of ‘learning together’ and has been involved in many initiatives to promote sharing of knowledge and communication between different medical disciplines, to place children at the centre of all medical care. Her variety of training and breadth of knowledge gives her a unique holistic approach to child care and management of a wide range of conditions.
Throughout her career Sivi has maintained an interest in clinical and scientific research and has had several papers published and presented her work at a number of different International Conferences including, London, Athens, Strasbourg, Glasgow and The Hague.
Alongside her extensive NHS career, she maintains a strong passion for academia and education by running accredited professional development courses in paediatrics for Consultant Paediatricians from around the country. She also delivers training to junior colleagues and multidisciplinary teams.
Sivi lives in London with her husband and 3 children, while she’s not working or running around after her 3 children, you’ll find her at the gym (toddler gym that is!) or enjoying her Spanish language classes.
Nurse Katie Hannant
Nurse Katie is Your Pregnancy Doctor’s specialist paediatric nurse. She has been practising as a registered nurse since 1994, when she qualified with a BSc Honours degree in Child Health Nursing. She has since worked at world renowned hospitals including Great Ormond Street and the Evelina and has specialised in children’s palliative care
She has extensive experience, having worked in general paediatrics for a total of 13 years. She learned to deal with a range of childhood illnesses, from the commonplace to the unusual. She loves the challenges of a job where you are constantly learning about the health and wellbeing of children and how best to care for them. As well as working at Your Pregnancy Doctor, Katie also has a new job as a Clinical Nurse Specialist supporting children affected by Cystic Fibrosis.
Through working as a children’s nurse and also bringing up her own three children, Katie has gained a wealth of information and skills around the subjects of infant and childhood health, she also has plenty of practical tips to help new parents deal with the day-to-day ups and downs of life with a baby.
Dr Jane Gilbert
Dr Jane Gilbert qualified as a doctor from Imperial College London (St Mary’s Hospital). Her medical school interview, training and progress as a doctor in both hospitals and General Practice were featured on the long-running BBC documentary series ‘Doctors to Be’ and ‘Doctors at Large.’
Jane has been working for the past twenty years as a health journalist and media medic. She researched and presented ‘The Good Birth Guide’ for the ITV digital channel Wellbeing, presented the series ‘Call Dr Jane’ for Yorkshire and Tyne Tees TV and appeared as a health expert for ‘Teen Taboos’ on Channel 4.
Jane has been published widely in magazines including Practical Parenting, Bliss and The Sunday Express and she has also created content for Roche Pharmaceuticals, Boots, ITV and Toys R Us magazine. She was a core contributor for Practical Parenting, writing regular ‘Well Woman’ and ‘Agony Aunt’ pages on sexual and relationship problems. She wrote the ‘Child Health Zone’ for Crooke’s Healthcare, a simple but comprehensive guide to children’s health for worried parents and “Potty Training’ for Hamlyn Books, which was published in January 2003, republished in 2006 and 2008 and given as a promotional gift with Huggies Pull-ups.
Jane is part of a team creating health information and education films for the NHS and Diabetes UK. She presents digital film ‘prescriptions’ to help patients cope with chronic disease and injury.
She has been involved with Your Pregnancy Doctor since the early days and is excited and proud to be part of such a pioneering project.
Dr Kandiah Kumar
Dr Kumar is Your Pregnancy Doctor’s mental health expert. He is an experienced Psychiatrist who retired from the NHS in 2011. He worked in Maidstone as a Consultant Psychiatrist for 28 years. Despite stepping down from his full-time consultant role, he maintains an interest in liaison and general hospital psychiatry and, as an acknowledged mental health expert, continues to work as a second opinion appointed doctor for the Care Quality Commission.
Throughout his career, Dr Kumar has been heavily involved in leadership, education and training. He worked as Medical and Clinical Director in Maidstone, with responsibilities for service development such as the first Mother and Infants Mental Health Service and the Eating Disrders service in the region and clinical governance. He was an Honorary Senior lecturer at the Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ School of Medicine and played key roles in the Royal College of Psychiatrists. He was an Associate Dean, Chair of Senior Training Committee, Equivalence Committee and was also a Vice Chair of the International Advisory Committee. Dr Kumar has been invited to speak at many national and international meetings on subjects including postgraduate education in psychiatry and para suicide.
Outside medicine Dr Kumar has a keen interest in South Asian temple arts and following retirement from the NHS completed an MA in the History of Art & Archaeology at SOAS, University of London and is working towards a doctoral degree and pursuing research in south India on Temple gateways.
Dr Kumar is also a loving Father and Grandfather and is Dad to Your Pregnancy Doctor’s resident child health expert Dr Sivi.
Dr Daryl Dob
Dr Daryl Dob is Your Pregnancy Doctor’s anaesthetist and pain-control expert. A fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, he has looked after more than 5000 women needing anaesthesia during childbirth.
Dr Daryl was appointed a Consultant at London’s famous Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in 1998. He has been a close colleague and friend to Dr Keith since he came to work at Chelsea. Through their close teamwork they have cared for many mothers and helped them give birth safely and in comfort.
With interest and expertise in practical and academic anaesthesia, Dr Daryl has over 50 peer reviewed articles in the medical literature and was appointed to the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Obstetric Anaesthesia in 2008. He has also written a book entitled “Crises in Childbirth – Why Mothers Survive”.
Dr Daryl has a special interest in anaesthesia for pregnant women with congenital heart disease. He has worked with many outstanding colleagues pioneering techniques to help this group of women achieve safe delivery of their babies. He also has an interest in medical crisis management. Dr Daryl was one of the founder members of the Chelsea & Westminster Simulation Department and with the team they help improve patient safety by training and educating health-professionals in how to deal efficiently in emergency situations.
From gas and air to general anaesthetics and epidurals, Dr Daryl provides professional and practical guidance.
Nurse Georgie Morse
Nurse Georgie is Your Pregnancy Doctor’s First Aid expert. She is the founder of Little Soldier’s First Aid, teaching parents and child carers baby first aid, in the comfort of their own home.
Georgie recognised the need for this bespoke training after the birth of her first child and feels passionately about delivering these vital courses in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Knowing just how challenging becoming a parent can be, Little Soldiers First Aid courses aim to allay some of the fear surrounding baby and childhood emergencies and common illnesses. This will empower parents with the knowledge and practical skills needed if ever faced with this situation. Babes in arms are very welcome to the courses and coffee and cake are encouraged!
Georgie qualified with a BN Honours degree in Child Nursing in 2006 and has been working in Children’s Accident and Emergency ever since. She has worked in several busy city hospitals including Lewisham, Addenbrookes and Chelsea and Westminster.
With her wealth of experience from A&E and as a mother of two young children, Georgie is a firm believer that anyone caring for children, in any capacity, should learn basic first aid.
Dr Bran Sivakumar
Bran Sivakumar is a leading Paediatric Hand Surgeon working within world-renowned centres of excellence for paediatric care – Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Portland Hospital and The Harley Street Clinic in London. He is Director of the childrenshandsurgery.com and is committed to providing the highest standard of care to all his patients.
Mr Sivakumar graduated from the Royal Free Medical School in 1998, which included a bachelor of sciences degree in Anatomy at University College London. He went on to complete an extensive plastic and reconstructive surgical training program to became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Plast). Mr Sivakumar is a full member of the British Society for Surgery of the Hand (BSSH) and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
Throughout his career Mr Sivakumar has maintained an interest in clinical and scientific research. As part of this cutting-edge work he completed a doctorate (MD) at the RAFT Institute of Plastic Surgery and Imperial College London. This work was awarded a prestigious Royal College of Surgeons research grant. He has published extensively in scientific journals and has also presented at both national and international meetings. Mr Sivakumar has also received an international research award at the European Conference of Scientists and Plastic Surgeons (ECSAPS). Mr Sivakumar continues to be involved in medical research and supervises both MSc and PhD projects at University College, Kings College London and the National Institute of Medical Research. In addition, Mr Sivakumar is an honorary senior lecturer at the Institute of Child Health.
Sharon is Your Pregnancy Doctor’s fashion, food and lifestyle expert. Together with Your Pregnancy Doctor’s Consultant Obstetrician Dr Keith, she is the proud parent to 11-year old Poppy.
Sharonhad a successful corporate career working with some of the world’s biggest retailers and city banks, including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Goldman Sachs. For BT and Accenture she managed high profile, multi-million pound clients and created the Women in Business Network.
More recently, Sharon has been joint-founder and director of The Chelsea Birth Clinic, giving her a unique insight into the needs of women during pregnancy and birth. She is director, co-founder and a key member of the Your Pregnancy Doctor team. With design flare, an excellent eye and her finger on the pulse of all that is new and stylish for babies and expectant mums, Sharon is responsible for finding the perfect pregnancy, fashion and household items for films and shoots, reporting on new trends and identifying talent for the team.
Andrew is focused on driving the company strategy with the team and developing the business side of Your Pregnancy Doctor, to ensure the team can continue to deliver their medical expertise to a global audience by developing new ways to reach and engage with families.
Working with businesses, partners, sponsors and charities, Andrew is developing partnerships that truly add value to all parties and ultimately gives the greatest value to families around the world that need the information that Your Pregnancy Doctor provides.
Andrew has a background in building new international businesses with new technologies and solutions that deliver national level changes. Having lived on 3 continents, his understanding of the international market is essential to the growth of Your Pregnancy Doctor to be able to support as many families as possible. His passion for driving change and improving the lives of individuals comes from his love of psychology and fast positive mental change practices such as NLP, which he has studied and practiced for over 15 years.
With his wife Emma, Andrew runs their international training and education businesses which has trained and coached nearly a million people across the world and changed the lives of many people, while also delivering some incredible changes to businesses, such as the world’s leading retailers.
Emma is responsible for the online business and the media production team. Emma has a strong business background having had a successful career building new businesses in the IT transformation world since she graduated with a First in Business and Computer Science from Queens University.
Emma’s focus is to ensure Your Pregnancy Doctor has the very best platform and production facilities to deliver the information from our medical team in the best way, to ensure our viewers have an amazing experience and receive the greatest value from our work. Emma is passionate about education and holds board positions at two other global businesses she owns with her husband Andrew, which gives her a broad view of how to deliver information to individuals that has the greatest impact and value, while ensuring she has a wider understanding of international business and cultures.
